romney was breath-takingly dishonsest last night. mitt romney was more in control of the debate and walked all over jim lehrer and obama didn't fight back. obama had the facts and didn't use them, but this is what obama does. in 2008 when he ran against hillary clinton, people said he wasn't fighting hard enough and against john mccain and in the health care debate, he wasn't fighting hard enough. he won all the fights. >> what's interesting, our first team and others brought up the comparison of the incumbent curse. george w. bush, ronald reagan in '84, george h.w. bush in '92, the president didn't seem to be on his game. mitt romney made a surprise appearance to a cpac event in denver still courting the conservatives but say if you know people that voted for president obama, tell them to come on over to our side. that's ironic because i don't imagine he knows many conservative republicans who voted for president obama the last time or plan to this time. nevertheless, you're no fan of governor romney. did you become a fan last night as a conservative who has doubted his credibi

exciting. romney showed his willingness to say whatever would get him through the night. shifting his positions to deals that he's made with the right, positioning himself just where it works, with the voter. it reminds me of bill murray's character in groundhog day. every day he gets up to the same day, comes up with a new pitch based on what she said about her likes and dislikes the day before. this is the romney approach. sell whatever people are willing to buy. if that causes trouble, say you're against any cuts in medicare. get it? sell big tax cuts to the job creators, those in the country with the most money. if that causes trouble, just deny it. pretend you never said a word about giving a break to those job creators. get it? say that you want the auto industry to go bankrupt. say you don't care about 44% of the country that doesn't care about social security. then when that 44% is watching you, say that your heart is bleeding for them. that's right, just like on groundhog day, listening for clues of what doesn't work. what in your pitch isn't ll

. it's not ifd. it's just not true. the amazing thing about romney was the way he was -- i have to say somewhat sleazily the other night in the debate, just make up stuff. his position is not worrying about social security people. it was basically dismissing them as leeches and moochers and dead beats and then he goes in and shows this crocodile tears for the people who need the social security benefit because that's the main retirement plan. across the board, the pre-existing condition stuff he through out. unfortunately, the president didn't tag him on the automatic industry. how about 40 million people left in the emergency room? that's big-time bad and nobody nailed him with it. >> this isn't style points, mr. mayor. this is not style points. this is substance. part of being president is being able to explain what you've accomplished and what the risks are of the challenger facing you for re-election. the president just simply didn't do it last time. i think joe biden is going to try to begin the work on thursday of answering the points that the president didn't answer himself. the

of this jobs report. yesterday we had governor romney pointing out that workforce participation has gone down, saying that fewer people are even looking for work. that's part of why the report has changed. also his advisers reporting that last night that a significant portion of this gain in the or decline in the unemployment rate has to do with folks who are taking part-time jobs. these aren't new career, the big kind of robust job creation the romney campaign says is necessary. their strategy has been to sort of kick things back towards the debate, focus on a point governor romney made during the debate to say that president obama doesn't really have a plan to encourage broad-based job creation. this is governor romney last night here in florida. >> he got a chance to explain his jobs program, how he's going to create new jobs in america. did you hear what he had to say? i didn't, either. . i kept looking for a specific plan as to what he was going to do to create jobs. i heard more of the same. stimulus, hiring more government workers, raising taxes. those things don't create jobs, they co
